    POSITION SUMMARY: The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) contributes to the profitability and growth of VAST, in Marquette, MI, by managing all aspects of the Business Development Center. The BDC develops, implements, and manages systems that ensure goals are met within the Agency. The BDC also performs as second-in-command to the Sales Leader. The BDC is responsible for organizing meetings, marketing opportunities, Vital Few accounts, Megalodon, etc. The BDC role is ever-evolving and flexibility is essential.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. 2nd In Command To CEO:
      1. Calendar management
      2. Office organization
      3. Maintain Profit Sharing Document
      4. Maintain CEO Navigator Document
      5. Other duties as requested.
    2. Assistant Sales Leader:
      1. Coordinate monthly sales meetings, advisor focus meetings, Sales Summits and Annual Meeting in partnership with Sales Leader.
      2. Responsible for management and employee certification of VAST Blue Process.
      3. Work closely with all Advisors, Account Executives and Account Managers to ensure the new business goals and retention goals are obtained.
      4. Attend Account Manager Meetings.
      5. Understand and act as the key point of contact for Acrisure Resources within the office.
      6. Understand and act as the key point of contact for MySalesResults within the office.
      7. Understand and act as the key point of contact for InCite Performance Group within the office.
      8. Maintain monthly VAST boards for divisions and advisors.
      9. Develop and maintain a database of prospects in targeted classes, gather as much policy information as possible in partnership with Sales Leader.
      10. Develop quarterly Vital Few lists.
      11. Award quarterly All Stars, 1885 & William K Hetrick Circle winners as well as other nominations, awards and recognitions (plaques, gifts, dinner).
      12. Develop RFP’s presentations, proposals, claim analysis, benchmarking, etc. with Sales Leader.
      13. Fosters the VAST Blue Process, VAST Blue Experience, and the VAST Blue Culture.
      14. Attend Company planning & company visit meetings as necessary. 
    3. Marketing:
      1. Research, develop and implement various marketing programs with consideration to agency strengths, competitive markets and current competition with advertising agency and company co-op dollars.
      2. Assist in various event planning.
      3. Assist in the coordination of education seminars for clients and prospects.
      4. Maintain and order inventory [this includes marketing trinkets as well as branded office supplies]
      5. Assist in managing the Accident Fund Chamber program for Upper Peninsula.
      6. Manage all Sponsorship/donations requests and golf outings.
      7. Assist in coordinating social media and website capabilities including VAST quarterly newsletter and maintain VAST website. 
      8. Prepare annual holiday gifts for clients as well as agency Christmas card.
    4. Administrative Support:
      1. Organize VAST Committees + Blue Jeans Challenge.
      2. Coordinate seminars, conferences, and special agency events.
      3. Run necessary reports as requested.
      4. Perform special projects at management’s request.
      5. Assist in agency principles with management of BLUE process, BLUE culture & BLUE experience.
      6. Liaison among Advisors, Account Executives, Account Managers and Service Center.
    PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
    1. Participate in relevant seminars, classes and associations.
    2. Keep abreast of current industry issues and program highlights as they apply to the marketing and selling process.
    3. Obtain basic licenses such as P&C and L&H [where needed].

    COMPUTER SKILLS:   Demonstrate strong PC skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Knowledge of Agency Management Systems.  Video editing knowledge is helpful.
    OTHER QUALIFICATIONSMust be organized, detail-oriented, able to multi-task and be efficient with verbal and written communication skills.  Knowledge of and experience with marketing/insurance terminology.  A high degree of confidentiality required.  Ability to exercise good judgment in the performance of duties.  Ability to learn software as needed. 
    WORK CONDITIONS
    1. Work is done in a temperature-controlled, non-smoking office environment.
    2. Workstations are open-aired cubicles.
    3. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    4. There may be some travel associated with this position.
    5. High level of interpersonal or informational complexity is faced.

    7. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours.
    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (with or without reasonable accommodation):
    1. Must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
    2. Ability to access all areas of the VAST offices.
    3. Ability to access all areas of clients’ facilities and grounds.
    4. Requires some lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying.
    5. Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds.
    6. Ability to crouch, crawl, bend, stoop and climb.
    7. Prolonged periods of sitting.
    8. Occasional prolonged standing.
    9. High-level manual dexterity to operate all office machines and equipment.
    10. Ability to work accurately and quickly with interruptions.
    11. Moderate stress due to regular deadlines and daily challenges.
    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS
    This is a full-time position.  Days and hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  This position regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work.
    TRAVEL
    Travel is seldom and primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area overnight travel may be expected.
    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
    Associate degree or the recognized equivalent in education and experience is required.  Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Advertising with one to three years of insurance-related experience is preferred. 
    LICENSING:       
    1. Must obtain Michigan Property & Casualty License within 30 to 90 days of employment.
    2. Michigan Life, Health & Accident License (to be determined)
