NPS's Calumet Visitor Center Changes Hours
The National Park Service’s Calumet Visitor Center has new days and hours of operation for the fall and winter. The visitor center will be open from November 1, 2016 – April 30, 2017, Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The visitor center will be open extended hours during special event weekends in the winter.
The NPS’s Calumet Visitor Center provides orientation to the park and its partner Keweenaw Heritage Sites as well as a sales area for interpretive materials operated by the Isle Royale & Keweenaw Parks Association. The primary focus of the facility is the exhibit, Risk and Resilience: Life In a Copper Mining Community. Everyone is encouraged to visit the free facility and enjoy the artifact-rich exhibits, self-guided building tours, and rotating temporary exhibits.
